NTAG213, NTAG215 and NTAG216 are standard NFC tag ICs developed by NXP Semiconductors to be used in mass market applications such as retail, gaming and e-commerce consumer electronics, in conjunction with NFC devices or NFC-compatible proximity coupling devices. The design of the NTAG213, NTAG215 and NTAG216 (hereinafter collectively referred to as NTAG21x) is fully compliant with the NFC Forum Type 2 Tag (Ref. 2) and ISO/IEC14443 Type A (Ref. 1) specifications. Target applications include outdoor and print media smart advertising, SoLoMo applications, product certification, NFC shelf tags, mobile companion tags. Target use cases include outdoor smart advertising, product authentication, mobile companion tags, Bluetooth or Wi-Fi pairing, electronic shelf labels and business cards. NTAG21x memory can also be segmented to enable multiple applications at the same time.

Due to the high input capacitance, the NTAG21x tag IC is particularly suitable for applications that require a small footprint without compromising performance. Small NFC tags can be more easily embedded in product tags or electronic devices. NTAG21x mechanical and electrical specifications are tailored to the requirements of inlay and label manufacturers.

1.5 collision avoidance

The intelligent anti-collision function allows multiple tags to be operated simultaneously in the field. The anti-collision algorithm selects each tag individually and ensures that the transaction is executed correctly using the selected tag without interference from another tag in the field.
